I will consider the “Global Warming” from Climate Change as presented to us, by our governments. The ratio governments assume that Men is influencing Nature, is completely out of bounce to me. I wanted to see how we, burning Fossil Fuels (Oil and Gas), actually affect the Earth's temperature. I will show that it cannot have the effect, as governments claim it does. We are simply to insignificant. To make sure it remains understandable I will keep it as simple as possible. I will use “high school” level maths and chemistry most of us understand and are able to follow. I will only SI units (meter, gram, Newton etc) which will produce huge numbers. A normal calculator cannot work with such big numbers so it is better to use a spreadsheet, as it adapts automatically. The approach is from a solar system perspective. "Global" means taking Earth (as a whole) in its surrounding. Not parts of Earth and then cloud it in many detailed statistics. The danger of statistics is, you can proof anything you want when you ignore the rule: analogy is not proof. Something governments can do, to hide the truth from the (simple) mass. For example: "smoking causes lung-cancer". In the sixties, lung cancer cases started to increase. Governments point at smoking because people were smoking more in the same curve (analogy). At the same time our income started to increase in the same curve. The sale of televisions was also increasing according that curve. Politicians could also have said: from watching television you get lung-cancer. We all know that is nonsense, but the principle is the same. We also breath in a lot of other chemicals (DDT, medicins...), virusses which also increased according the same curve. Our food is packed/contained in soft plastics (like tupperware) which turn out to release chemicals in our food. Radiation levels increased according the same curve. A colour tv doubled the radiation level. Working in an office with a colour monitor, 9 hours a day even more (closer and longer exposed). Our "scientists" did not even mentioned the danger of that. Our "politicians" might have decided that the economy was far more important than the "public risk". Such publications might have been "discouraged". Just an idea of what could be possible, and how much trust you should give to things "not actually proven".
Any assumption I maka are noted and are made with the intention to simplify the calculations and kept in favor of: us causing “Global Warming”. References are linked to source web sites. I will consider the global energy balance (temperature) and CO2 balance (as assumed having an "insulating effect") with and without (daily) burning of fossil fuels. Finally I will determine the effect of each on the global temperature. Numbers do not lie, as long as you use the right ones.
Our Earth is receiving energy (heat) from the sun and it keeps the Earth at a reasonable constant temperature for us, so we can live in it. First we need to get an understanding of the natural energy balance of Earth, without influences of man. The only energy source in that case is the sun. Which provides the Solar Energy Flow of 1368 [W/m²] Watt per square meter in Earths orbit (used in solar panel sizing for satellites). This is multiplied with the surface area of the Earth that is facing the sun. Napolean determined that 1 meter is the 10 millionth part of the distance between the equator to the North pole. The circumference of the Earth is 4 times that so: 40.000.000 meters (40.000 km). That gives us the Earth radius as 2.π.R= surrounding of a circle. And the Earths surface as 4.π.R².
The Earths Radius: 6,366,198 meters.
The surface of the Earth is simply a circle facing the sun. The earth is rotating but in 24 hours it makes a full circle. Meaning the energy is absorbed over the full Earth surface. Less on the poles more on the equator. Then longer in time on the poles and shorter on the equator. The surface of a circle is π.R².
That makes the Earths Solar Surface: 127,323,954,473,516 m².
And the Earths Surface: 509,295,862,105,936 m².
The Earths Solar Power is the Solar Energy Flow times Earths Solar Surface which is: 174,179,169,719,770,000 Watt.
The Earths Solar Energy is the Earths Solar Power over 24 hours which is: 15,049,080,263,788,200,000,000 W.s or Joule.
The average energy level (= Temperature) of Earth however is stable over the the time the power is received. The energy received during the day, is radiated out into the cold space, during the day and the night.
The Earths Average Temperature is 274.00 Kelvin.
The Dark Space Temperature is 2.73 Kelvin.
The Earths Heath Resistance (Temperature difference by Energy flow) of 271.27 Kelvin divided by the Earth Solar Power is: 0.000,000,000,135 K/W
We produce roughly 85 million barrels of crude oil each day. A barrel is 159 liter.
The Oil Density is 833 kg/m³.
The Oil Mass is barrels * 0.159 * 833 which is 11,257,995,000,000 kg.
The Oil Energy per kg from burning crude oil is 41.9 [MJ/kg] MegaJoule per kg
This means the Oil Energy from burning all the oil is 471,709,990,500,000,000 Joule.
NOTE: Not all oil will be burned. Much is converted into products like lubricants, plastics etc. But for simplicity this is ignored and I assume here that ALL will be burned.
We produce 3,629,854 cubic meters of gas (normalised at 0 °C and 1.013,25 bar, as a “standard cube”).
The Gas Energy per m³ is 38.8 [MJ/m³] MegaJoule per cubic meter.
The Gas Density is 0.833 kg/m³
The Gas Mass is the Gas Density times cubic meters produces which is 3,023,668 kg.
The Gas Energy of burning all gas is cubic meters produced times Gas Energy per m³ which is 140,838,335,200,000 Joule.
The Manmade Energy from Oil Energy and Gas Energy together is 471,850,828,835,200,000 Joule.
Manmade Energy : Solar Energy = 0.000,031,35 (31.35 ppm)
Applying the Manmade Energy over the Earths Heat Resistance, causes the
Manmade Temperature Difference = 0.000,000,000,000,004,2 °C.
NOTE: 1 Watt.second equals 1 Joule. Which is used to compare Solar Energy to Manmade Energy.
NOTE: We cannot measure temperature differences in femto (E-15) degrees. Typically they are 0.1 (deci) degree accurate.
CO₂ is said to have an isolating effect on the Earths Heath Resistance. So lets check how much CO₂ is normally in the atmosphere and then see how much we are adding by burning fossil fuels.
1 [m³] cubic meter of air at sea level (1 atm), has a mass of 1.3 kg and holds 3 gram of CO₂. This is an accepted average, as moist, temperature, height etc. have an effect on the density. To keep that cubic meter at 1 atmosphere at Sea Level we will need to stack 7.700 [m³] cubic meters above it (=1000/1.3). The higher cubic meters are, the more they will expand (thinner air), making the Atmosphere a lot higher than 7.700 meters. But that has no effect on the total mass. CO₂ molecules are also the heaviest molecules. Like sugar in a cup of tea they tend to sink to the bottom. But the constant wind, it is like constantly stirring the cup of tea, spreading it equally. The average elevation of land mass above sea level is 800 meter, covering 29% of Earths surface. This reduces the amount of air.
Using Earth's Radius we can calculate the Earth Surface as 4.π.R².
The Earths Surface is 509,295,817,894,065 m².
The Earths Land Surface is (29%)
Earths Land Mass Volume of 29,539,157,437,855,800 m³
The Earths Atmosphere Volume is Earth Surface times 7.700 meter which is minus Earths Land Mass Volume which makes it:
Earths Atmosphere Volume = 3,892,038,640,346,450,000 m³.
The CO2 in the Atmosphere is Earths Atmosphere Volume times 3 grams.
CO2 in the Atmosphere = 11,676,115,921,039,300,000 gram of CO2. (or 11.7 Teraton)
When burning Oil and Gas the chemical formula is roughly:
2.CH₂+3.O₂ => 2.CO₂ + 2.H₂O
CH₂ has a mol weight of 16.
CO₂ has a mol weight of 46.
O₂ has a mol weight of 32.
H₂O has a mol weight of 18.
This simply means that burning 16 tons of CH₂ will produce 46 (times 80/79) tons of CO₂.
NOTE: I just assumed long chains of CH ₂ where the H-ends of long chains (averaged on 10 chains) only consume 1 extra oxygen and produce 1 molecule of water. This has a little effect (a bit less CO₂) on the end result (1/80th), as a little more fossil fuel weight is used. This worst case and simplicity keeps things better understandable.
So burning 11,257,995,000,000 grams of Oil plus 3,023,668,382 grams of Gas gives us:
Fossil Fuel Burned = 11,403,563,208,488 grams (11.4 Megaton) each day.
The Manmade CO₂ is 46/16 times the Fossil Fuel Burned each day which is:
Manmade CO₂ = 32,785,244,224,403 grams (32.8 Megaton).
Manmade CO₂ : Atmosphere CO₂ = 0.000,002,8 or 2.8 ppm.
This ratio is so small that it has no additional insulating effect on our atmosphere. We can't measure 2.8 ppm on 3 grams inside 1.3 kg of a cubic meter. We certainly will not see an increase in growth of green (trees, grass, algea (in the oceans) etc.) on a global scale.
NOTE: That is like breathing 1 extra time during 30 days, while being in a coma.
The Manmade vs Nature ratio for Energy is 31.3 ppm and for CO₂ is 2.8 ppm.
These numbers are too small to have any effect on a global scale.
Q.E.D. The assumed effect of Humans on Nature is wrong with a factor 100.000 !!!
I have asked global warming agencies to comment about these numbers and methods used, but sadly none ever replied.
Now I can imagine why... DO NOT BE DECEIVED! Trust no one! Do the calculations yourself...
NOTE: If you like to understand global warming investigate: Milankovic cycles. Also remember that these “green parties” started their ministries, after the Wall fell in Berlin. There no longer was a communist danger which motivated us, to pay more taxes. Remember how Voyager 1+2 were send into space? The planets were aligned in such a way, they would give them a “sling shot” and gained more speed. Or how in 2010 and 2020, we could see planets lined up during the night. Ever noticed how the number of medium size earth quakes have increased by a 10-fold in the last decades? Do gravitational variances, caused by the line up of planets, have an influence on the fragile stability of the Earths crust?
